Volunteering

Good begets good

Our volunteering

Since I was a child, thanks to my parents, I have always experienced voluntary work, actively participating with various associations in the social field. My adventure in Tanzania started with ASANTE ODV, which took me to the hinterland, where I discovered a new world.

When I arrived in the first Maasai village, where I stayed for a long time, I found a building that had never been completed, which had been started many years before and was destined to become a dispensary.

I worked closely with the local authorities and organised fundraisers in Italy to complete the construction, making the dispensary operational and purchasing medical equipment and furniture.

Step by step

Our help

We contributed to the construction of the kitchen for the primary school in the Maasai village and provided medical equipment and furniture for the dispensary in Mabalanga, near Handeni.

We also contributed to the construction of bathrooms at the dispensary in Lengusero, also near Handeni, and bought desks for the children at the ‘Mabalanga English Medium School’.

Also in the first Maasai village, I bought plastic collection bins for the entire village and set up a collection point, collaborating with a company in Dar es Salaam for recycling.

I have held several environmental education classes in schools to raise children’s awareness of this important issue, hoping that they will, in turn, be able to pass on to their homes the importance of not dispersing plastic in the environment and explaining the damage it causes to health.

I said “we” because if it wasn’t for all the people who trusted me and contributed financially, all this would not have been possible. So to them goes a heartfelt “Thank you” for believing in me. 🤎

the Masaiadventure dream

join us in volunteering

My dream would be: implement plastic recycling and collection also in Savannah, educating people on the importance of respecting the environment. I would also like to be able to organise medical check-up sessions with specialised people, doctors and nurses who can come to Savannah to do specialist check-ups but also to train local staff.

If you have love and time to spare, you can experience volunteering in a school or dispensary (small hospital) near the village where I live. To work in the school, a basic knowledge of English and a strong motivation to get involved are required. You will be able to agree on activities with the teachers. For the dispensary, medical or nursing skills are required in addition to knowledge of English.

  • Bringing Light to Our Village Health Clinic

The health clinic in the village where we live has no access to electricity. During nighttime emergencies, the doctor is forced to work using a flashlight. On one occasion, he even delivered a baby using only the light from his mobile phone. We are raising funds to purchase and install a solar power system that will provide reliable electricity to the clinic, ensuring safer medical care for the entire community.

  • We also hope to organize medical outreach missions led by european doctors, with the goal of providing healthcare services while training and supporting the local medical staff.
